An easy to grow heirloom from 1957 with deep, rich, purple pods that stand right out among bright green foliage. Deep purple pods are string-less, tasty and temptingly green when cooked. Tender enough to eat raw. Use in salad, boiled or steamed. Great for the freezer or canning. Snap, 55 days. A steady prducer all season long!
Beans are very easy to grow and manage. This group of beans is a favorite for the home garden and can be grown just about anywhere because they have a relatively short growing season. Tolerant of Mexican bean beetle.
1. Bred at the University of New Hampshire by Elwyn Meader
2. Introduced by Helper Seed CO in 1957
3. A terrific bean for small spaces
4. Heirloom variety discovered by Henry Fields in an Ozark garden in the 1930s
5. For the best flavor and crispness steam the beans rather than boil
6. Harvest beans when they are between 4" and 7" for best flavor
7. Flowers are a beautiful purple
They can be used fresh, dried, or frozen. Picking beans continuously for new flowers production and more beans!
To increase harvest, bush beans can be planted every two weeks. If you need to add nitrogen, 1 pound per 100 square feet is plenty. You do not need to soak beans prior to planting.

Seed is a live product which depends on many important grower skills such as proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, watering, light intensity, proper use of fertilizers, weed controls, fungicides, insecticides, soil conditions, and reasonable weather during the growing period. These factors are totally out of the sellers control, and germination and growing results are the buyer's responsibility and risk.
